Early one evening we heard a big bump outside and discovered a bear had pulled down our bird feeders, and was enjoying a meal of suet and sunflower seeds. Plus a drink from the fountain to cleanse his (or her) palate. Banging on
the window scared him off, but not before he had taken the suet feeder off into the woods. Hoping this would be his only visit, I made another suet feeder and rehung it and the seed feeder from their wire clothesline. But two nights later there was another clunk, and I scared
him off this time by blowing my vuvuzela out the door. He had once again absconded with our (new) suet feeder. And Daphne slept through the commotion, same has she had before. But the next day I did a little exploring in the woods and found the feeder. We decided
to bring the feeders in at night. Well, a couple days later, in broad daylight, he came back and pulled down the suet feeder for a third time. While maintaining proper social distancing, I ran out the door blowing my vuvuzela, and chased him out the back and over the fence,
carrying the suet feeder in his mouth. Daphne joined me barking half-heartedly, as he disappeared into the woods. The next day I raised the clothesline up to an unbearable height, and recovered the feeder from the woods. I'm sure that all our troubles are over.
