The usual schedule was to get up at the break of dawn and head out on an animal drive, while the critters were active and before the sun got too hot.  We'd get back to camp around 10:00 for a late breakfast, take a nap, and head out again after lunch in the middle of the afternoon.  We'd find a nice spot for drinks at sundown, and head back in the dark, using a spotlight to look for night creatures.  Over the two days there we saw plenty of giraffes, a lioness hunt and kill a water monitor lizard, hippos and other big and hairies, and a termite explosion:  Cate had the spotlight as we were driving home in the dark, when the termites decided to leave their hills all at once.  They do this a few times each year, at night, and fill the air with flying bugs, a few million (approximately) of which were attracted to Cate's spotlight.  They're considered a delicacy by the animals and locals, tasting like peanut butter after you've removed the wings and head.
