After three nights of easy living at Sabi Sands, we headed off for some real roughing it at Jon's house in Franschhoek.  To get there we drove back to Nelspruit, took a plane to Johannesburg, another plane to Cape Town (further than New York to Chicago), then Jon drove us (less than an hour) to Franschhoek.  After riding with Jon (on the left side of the road too!), I see where Uncle Bill developed his driving habits.   Well, I guess "roughing it" is the wrong way to describe Franschhoek.   It's in the middle of South Africa's wine country, with many elegant vineyards to visit and sample in the beautiful surrounding countryside.  And Jon's got quite a place there, located within walking distance of the middle of town.  We went out to lunch and dinner every day, checking out various restaurants, all with great food and very reasonable prices.
