October 2024: Redwoods, Lassen, Crater Lake, and Oregon
Time for a Fall car camping trip (I left Patti at home with Charlie). Kate and Ger were canceling their October reservations in the Redwoods, so I immediately snatched them up, three nights at Jedediah Redwoods State Park, normally very hard to come by. But first I stopped at their house, along with Carol's, in Neskowin, for a couple of days. Then down to the Redwoods for those three nights, with a bit of hiking and exploring . Next I headed to Lassen Volcanic National Park, where I'd hoped to get a spot at the campground there, which had many open sites. But "reservations available upon arrival" was a lie (no cell or wifi service, which were needed to get a spot) so I camped in the woods outside the park. Hiked to Bumpus Hell Trail the next morning, then headed on up into Oregon. Spent the next two days driving up past Crater Lake and through Oregon to Washington, and home.
