The next night was at Myakka River State Park, also up in the middle of Florida, where we followed a trail of snail shells and bird watchers to see a Limpkin. El Nino had dropped a tremendous amount of rain on the state, and all the extra water seems to have kept a lot of the birds elsewhere, but it was still good stuff. Traveling further down the state, we stopped at Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, which has a wonderful three mile boardwalk through the old cypress swamp, run by the Audubon Society. We saw this Barred Owl there.
