At the Piazza Signoria we saw the spot where the monk Savonarola was burned alive and where Hannibal Lector hung and disemboweled one of his latest victims (you'll have to read the book). There was no wait at the Uffizi museum, so we headed in. Rick Steves' "Mona Winks" guidebook was quite handy at all the museums we visited on the trip. Florence was crowded and busy, staying in the much more relaxing Siena was the smart thing to do.
