October 2007: Switzerland, Italy, and France

Early in the year Patti's friend Sara made us an offer that we couldn't refuse: spend a week in Tuscany, Italy.  Sara was using an inheritance to rent a spectacular seven bedroom villa in the heart of Tuscany at Montepulciano, and invited a bunch of her relatives and friends to share the digs, in early October.

We started our trip by flying into Zurich and hopping a train to Interlaken, Switzerland.  The precision of the Swiss rail system was marvelous to behold, particularly compared to the 3rd world fare offered in the USA.  We spent just two full days in the Jungfrau region, more of a reconnaissance than a real vacation, but we'll probably go back some time for a longer look.
