April 2019: Kaua'i
Patti and I finally got our act together for a trip to Kaua'i, after talking about it for years. We were looking forward to some sunny warmth after the usual dreary winter at Dog's Breath Acres. An added bonus, for me at least, was a chance to maybe bump my ABA (American Birding Association, not American Bar Association) list up to the magic number of 600 species. The ABA just recently added Hawaii to the its area; my list was at 588 species when we left. Spoiler alert: Click Here to see if I made it to 600.
Despite daily gloomy weather forecasts, we actually had great weather, and seemed to always be going in the opposite direction from the persistent traffic jams. Much sightseeing and a few easy hikes and beach walking. Checked out the local food just a little bit, but managed to stay out of the water, protecting our pink and lily white bodies from harmful rays. A great trip.
